#About Base

Base is a secure, low-cost, builder-friendly Ethereum L2 built to bring the next billion users onchain.

Base is incubated within Coinbase and plans to progressively decentralize in the years ahead. We believe that decentralization is critical to creating an open, global cryptoeconomy that is accessible to everyone.

Base is built on the MIT-licensed OP Stack, in collaboration with Optimism.

Base is an easy way for decentralized apps to leverage Coinbase’s products and distribution. Seamless Coinbase integrations, easy fiat onramps, and access to millions of verified users in the Coinbase ecosystem.

#How to Bridge ETH to Base Mainnet?

Step 1 : Add Base Mainnet To MetaMask

Click on “ADD TO Metamsk”

Step 2 : Bridge ETH to BASE Mainnet

  • The Base Bridge UI (bridge.base.org) is not available for mainnet during the current developer access period — it can only be used to bridge to testnet.
  • If you’re needing to bridge to mainnet during the current developer access period, continue to the Portal Proxy Contract section below :
  • You can bridge ETH from Ethereum to Base by sending ETH to the following contract address : 0x49048044D57e1C92A77f79988d21Fa8fAF74E97e
  • 🕹 CAUTION :
  • Do not send any asset other than ETH. The proxy contract only supports receipt of ETH and sending any other asset will result in unrecoverable loss of the asset.
  • Do not send ETH from any network other than Ethereum mainnet. The proxy contract only supports from Ethereum mainnet and sending from any other network or chain (e.g. another EVM-compatible chain or L2) will result in unrecoverable loss of the asset.
  • Do not send ETH from an exchange. The portal proxy contract bridges to the address where ETH is sent from, so if sent from an exchange, for example, ETH will be bridged back to the exchange, which could result in unrecoverable loss of the asset
  • ⏰ In less than 10 minutes (related to the traffic network), your Base mainnet will receive ETHs.

#How to Bridge ETH from Base to the Mainnet?

Currently, there is no official bridge to transfer assets from Base chain back to the Ethereum mainnet. However, the emergence of ppDeal aims to address this issue. PPDeal is a trustless decentralized peer-to-peer trading protocol, making transactions more secure and convenient. Now, it offers unlimited deposit and withdrawal services for ETH on the Base network.

We have noticed that recently, the process of depositing and withdrawing ETH on the Base network is inconvenient, as there is no efficient bridge to facilitate these transactions. The available bridges impose low limits on fund transfers, and other funds that require over-the-counter (OTC) services can only be guaranteed offline.

To address this, we have developed a specialized smart contract OTC protocol for the Base network, providing an order pool. Users can freely place orders and execute transactions through smart contract to ensure the security of their trades.

The protocol’s code will be open-source and undergo auditing, and it is expected to go live on August 3rd.

This will be HUGE! Stay tuned!
